Review of Gold . . .

Review of Gold . . .

Gold a sports drama set just after the Independence from British Government. A story of Indian Hockey Team which brought the Gold medal at Olympics in 1948. It was such a precise moment for the nation for winning a first Gold as a "Free India" after the Independence. Written by Reema Kagti along with Rajesh Devraj not only a sports drama but also patriotism is there. Actually it's seen in Bollywood many times earlier that each sports based film must have several ingredients of patriotism to target general citizens not only for those who's interested in the sport. Well after all each sport is emotionally related to the nation. Whether it's Hockey, Cricket, Football or even wrestling etc.
I generally don't like any sports much but it's always great to watch a film made on it. Loved Lagaan, Chak De India, Bhag Milkha Bhag, Dangal, Sachin : A Billion Dreams, Dhoni - An Untold Story etc and many more are some of the finest films made on different sports. Many of them worked so well at Box-Office also won the hearts of audience. For me Gold falls in this category. Yes definitely it worked for me. I won't compare it with other films or not even it can be compared to Chak De India which was also based on Hockey. Undoubtedly that was great film and Gold is nowhere near to it but it has it's own merits.
Story of a Tapan Das a bengali common man who's passionate about the Hockey and especially he aims to achieve a Gold as a "Free India". He isn't a good in his personal life but his love and passion for the Hockey makes the Hockey committee to give him a chance to make a team for the country which can bring a Gold. His meeting with the president of association turns out the win win deal and he comes up with such a fantastic team to fight the battle at Olympics ground.
Casting of an A lister actor for this role is such an appropriate choice by the makers. Akshay Kumar is nowadays doing some really very good films which is great thing for him, for the industry and of course for his fans. He's giving one by one hits with some good contents. This time too Gold is pure 24carat. One more superb choice by Akki. I think for the first time he is playing a role of Bengali person. He nailed it completely. His comic timing is perfect i can say that he's the only one after Govinda whose comic timing is unmatchable. His several dialogues, his Bengali accent, His Jugaad scenes remind me of his character of the film Khatta Meetha. Loved everything here about Akki.
Mouni Roy looks stunning and lends very good support as his wife. She's damn good when she speaks Bengali language.
Amit Sadh has done brilliant role. His swag of belong to royal family, his attitude to play as central forward etc deserve an appreciation. Very good job man.
Vineet Kumar Singh initially plays the role of captain which is mind blowing. He has damn good talent.
Sunny Kaushal is surprise package. Kunal Kapoor lends very good support to the team and film. Other casting is also very nice.
Screenplay is engaging except songs i think i have enjoyed every single scenes of the film. Loved many scenes such as Communal riots after Independence, Pakistani players cheer up the Indian team, Tapan Das meeting with committee members, Tapan Das and Samrat doing the selection process etc and of course the breathtaking climax.
Direction is good, cinematography and special effects also good and it's stated in the film that not a single person can win the game it's team which wins the game so it's a contribution of spectacular performances from the casting which creates the film worth watch.
Akki fans will have such a gem treat for the Independence Day.
It's good thing that lady director Reema Kagti who made Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd and psycho thriller Talash made such a fine film based on sports.
Overall very nice efforts by Akshay Kumar and his team to achieve Gold.
My Ratings
3.9/5.

Review of Mulk . . .

Review of Mulk . . .

Anubhav Sinha brings a film that's on burning issue of our nation. It's must watch for each Indian citizen. For those who are Muslim, those who aren't Muslim, those who consider Muslim as the "Others" all the kind of people can feel something by watching this one. Story of Muslim family in Banaras from which the young son gets involved in terror attacks and because of that how the whole family suffers the film tells this touchy story. Here it's shown by the makers that what happens to one Muslim family when their son creates problems for the nation by involving in terrorism and unfortunately the innocent family knows nothing about it. Rishi Kapoor plays the lead of family he's retired lawyer born and brought up in India always loved India never thought about communal discrimination.
It's hard hitting drama bravely made on this issue. Generally film makers don't dare to choose and present this kind of burning issue but Anubhav Sinha written and directed it with the team and proved once again that cinema has a potential to bring change to the society. Such film makers need support from the system and their audiences.
It has class appeal and potential to earn the rewards from the critics. It's exhilaration saga for those who prefer content driven film which has more better execution and writing than typical commercial films.
When it comes to my personal views on this issue i should admit that it was really indeed film and it's right time. Unfortunately our nation is facing very serious problem of communal discrimination. It's not good anyhow or in anyway for the nation. It may destroy the existence and it's already loosing country's incredible image across the globe only because of the mentality of such stupid people of nation. There's no advantage of war within the country among the communities or against any religion. India is famous for Unity in Diversity and it must continue this image for the development and peace.
Excellent writing work of the film also stated that terrorism isn't related to any religion or community. It's a business unfortunately Islam is being used a means to spread the terrorism across the globe. Terrorist don't have any religion if it's Hindu then it's definitely not the Muslim. There's nothing written in any Geetha or Quran that killing of the people will give you heaven thus it's obviously doesn't belong to any religion. It's my request whoever reading this never think of a Muslim man who has a long beard like a terrorist. There's adifference and that has to be understood by the citizens of India then only there will be peace and prosperity.
Tum Bin fame director Anubhav Sinha made such a fantastic film with hard hitting subject. I loved his Dus which was also super hit film and never liked many of his other films but this one i can say that it's his best film came out till date. Such a brilliant execution and writing.
Some dialogues are mind blowing. I became a big fan of this script. Brave writing.
Loved many scenes such as Rishi Kapoor isn't accepting the body of his brother's son from the Police, Interrogation of Rajat Kapoor and Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra as Judge, Tapsee Pannu as Lawyer & last but the best among these i found is Ashutosh Rana as lawyer against this case. Oh My God what a performance he gave. His dialogues written and spoken fabulously on Islam religion and community. I always loved his antagonism since Sangharsh film and still it's unbeatable. Hatz off to him when it comes to show anger towards something or someone he is the best. Here he totally nailed his role in court room drama. In climax Kumud Mishra's judgement speech is considered as one of the best scenes of the year. He is superb as always.
Lead Rishi Kapoor is a perfect choice to play this role. Tapsee Pannu looks charming and also justified with her  role. Manoj Pahwa's best performance till date. I became so emotional to see his situation in the police custody.
Well written, directed and acted film and one of the finest films came out this year till date.
Overall i loved it.
My Ratings specially for hard hitting writing
4/5.
