Review of Mission Mangal . . .
Jagan Shakti's directorial debut with creative help of concept oriented film maker R Balki released on Independence Day. Mission Mangal released on a day when our ISRO completed 50 years. Nation was celebrating Independence Day as well as Rakshabandhan Festival along with that there were something else to celebrate holiday with families, friends etc. On 15th August 2 big films arrived Mission Mangal & Batla House, 1 Hollywood film released in India Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and in addition to these 1 web series released by Netflix which is Sacred Games Season 2.
So for film lovers like me it was celebration. I went for Mission Mangal on very first day. Being fan of Akki i have to watch his films on first day of it's release.
A true story based on Mars Orbited Mission a historical job by scientists of ISRO. It has patriotism, it is a tale of pride of nation and Bollywood film makers have Akshay Kumar as always first choice for portraying as a lead.
Akki did many films in his this inning such as Kesari, Airlift, Baby, Holiday, PadMan, Toilet-Ek Prem Katha etc which are based either on true stories or it has full dozed patriotism.
Akki playing a lead of Mission Director who's handling the Mission to reach Mars. Followed by Second lead is Vidya Balan who's the one which steals the show besides Akki. She has very pivotal role in the Mission and also in the film. Rest team which joins the Mission are played well by other Actors.
Sonakshi Sinha is very good in her role, Sharman Joshi didn't have much to do but still his role was enough to make people laugh in the theatre. Nithya Menen did very good job in her first Hindi film. Kirti Kulhari a Muslim girl finding a house in Bangalore to live also lends good support in the Mission, Lastly in the team my most fav Taapsee Pannu OMG she looks damn beautiful in her look and she also did fantastic job here. I loved Taapsee in her Saree look more. I think in straight hair she looks damn stunning. Loved her. Vikram Gokhale as a director of ISRO is superb.
It's story of victory of scientists of ISRO. Mission Mangal is entertaining, engaging, high concept, patriotic and definitely a good watch for families and specially ladies would love to watch it because it already has Mahila Mandal to accomplish a Mission. It's enjoyable with family except only one scene where (Taapsee is learning driving).
Inspite of having use of English writing work is something which makes film more massy entertaining.
It has some really good scenes which deserve applaud specially in climax when efforts of ISRO scientists to send satellite from Earth to Mars succeeds all the citizens feel proud for the triumph.
It has great references such as picture of Vikrambhai Sarabhai, some brilliant talks of former president of India and Scientist of ISRO Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Sir whom i admire and respect a lot well every Indian loves him for his unforgettable contribution to science and nation.
Screenplay is predictable but still an engaging due to portions of various actors in appropriate time. Akki and Vidya is having more space than Taapsee, Sharman, Kirti etc stayed unutilized.
Music is not an important for the film but Background Score is nice.
Debutant Director succeed to deliver an entertainment on this holiday.
It's good to see Akki is doing films on patriotism, social issues, true incidents which makes his career more successful. It's his time to earn as much as stardom in coming few years and proves himself a SUPERSTAR. He is having very good pipeline for 2019-2020 with different genres of films. Good luck to him for super success.
On the whole i liked it and would recommend ladies, families and fans to have a good time in holiday/weekend. I'm sure it's going to have a sound Box-Office collection.
My Ratings
3.7/5.
