Review of Dream Girl . . .

Review of Dream Girl . . .

Dialogue writer Raaj Shaandilya's debut as a director Dream Girl arrived on this Friday. I was officially busy on first day till night so caught it on Saturday night in theatre. I read reviews which were mostly positive. What i expect from Ayushmann Khurrana's film is different yet engaging story & his stellar performance to make it worth watch for me.
I loved his performances many times. His dedication towards the role and selection of the scripts all the times makes me more excited to wait and look forward for his upcoming films.
Dream Girl in which he plays role of Karam who's working at various dramas where het gets role of any lady character because he has talent to talk in the voice of girl. He's not getting a decent job which can help him to pay off the loans taken by his father (Annu Kapoor). He finally meets a person (Rajesh Sharma) who's running a call center and offers him a job in which he has to call people and talk to them as Pooja. Later story continues with this job and he meets Maahi (Nushrat Bharucha) and what ups and downs happens in his life is shown in the film.
Story is fresh while screenplay is predictable but dialogues written so brilliantly which makes the film out and out entertainer and one of the nice comedy film of this year or recent times. Obviously because director is already an experienced dialogue writer and in his film too he wrote such a witty humourous yet sometimes hard hitting dialogues. Hatz off to Raaj Shaandilya Sir for this.
Several dialogues are so so so funny such as Ayushmann offers a seat to lady in a bus when he returns from an interview without getting a job "Aap Yahan Baith Jaiye Mai To Waise Bhi Ghar Pe Baitha Hi Rehta Hun"
Rajesh Sharma tells him to read the agreement before signing Ayushmann tells "15-17 saal padhai hi ki hai kuchh nahin mila".
Vijay Raaz' best dialogue besides his all the poetries in the film "Policewale agar kisi ko kuchh dene lage to fir kahe ke Policewale" this was so funny at the same time hard hitting.
What a writing. Loved it.
Performances by supporting cast is outstanding. Vijay Raaz superb as Police Constable who's drunk and poet most of the time. Nidhi Bisht is also playing deadly role whose heart is broken three times by various boys and he has no more faith in boys now. Abhishek Banerjee who's playing Brahmchari brother of Nushrat Bharucha is also funny and enjoyable.
Manjot Singh as friend of Ayushmann is also superb and has got some very good lines. He has done good job. Rajesh Sharma is also good in his role.
Nushrat Bharucha looks stunning and beautiful. He plays her part so well but doesn't have much to do besides lending support to Ayushmann.
Annu Kapoor is one of my fav performers who never disappoints with their performance. Whether that's Jolly LLB2 or this or any of his film i remember he has done superb dialogues delivery and out and out watchable character. Here he's playing role of father of Ayushmann who's lost his wife earlier and stayed whole life alone with his son.
Annu Kapoor has so much potential and he's a true theatre artist who can act brilliantly all the time. Here he doesn't have much important or detailed role but still when his scene comes he steals the show. He's mind blowing.
Lastly the one who's the main positive point of the film is Ayushmann Khurrana. He's the one who accepted many challenging roles in his short span of career. From Vicky Donor to Andhadhun to this loved him most of his films. Here the role of girl who's many times earlier portrayed by many brilliant actors in the history of Bollywood also for comedy many TV shows using the idea of transformation of a boy in the role of girl is great watch for an audiences.
Role of Karam/Pooja both extremely well played by him. For me it's not his best performance or best film but yet it's an entertaining and also gives message in the climax part. It's our good luck to see films of an actor like Ayushmann who's doing thrillers like Andhadhun and same time comedies like Badhaai Ho and this one. It's our fortune to have very talented actor like him in the industry. He's one of the best performers of coming age.
Many congratulations to him and best wishes for his super success ahead.
Music of the film is also ok i loved Radhe Radhe track.
Overall for me it was entertaining, engaging and specially for outstanding performance by Ayushmann Khurrana i will go with
3.5/5.
